Benefits of practising meditation every day

Are you searching for a daily pick-me-up? Are you looking for a way to feel healthier and happier in just 15 minutes? If so, the answer is as close as your yoga mat.

Putting aside time each day to meditate will transform your physical and mental health in ways you never thought possible. Here are the key benefits to incorporating yoga into your daily routine.

#1 Improve your strength

There’s more to yoga than stretching and bending; it also requires great strength. Increasing your physical strength will prevent injury, boost your immune system and metabolism, and make every task much easier.

A simple 15-minute daily yoga session will drastically improve your inner and outer strength.

#2 Boost your immune system

A typical yoga workout involves plenty of inverting, twisting, back bending and calming. This allows you to give your parasympathetic nervous system (responsible for rest and digestion) a good workout. Which, in turn, decreases pressure on your sympathetic nervous system (resulting in less stress and inflammation).

#3 Maintain focus

Yoga allows you to shut out all external distractions, helping your mind to become much quieter. During your daily sessions, you’ll notice increased concentration, as your mind becomes much more aware and present.

After a few days practising yoga, you’ll be able to harness your mental resources, process information better, and learn and retain information more efficiently.

#4 Reduce anxiety

If you’re sick of feeling anxious and stressed out, practising yoga daily is the perfect way to relax. As your body and mind are so closely linked, during your daily workout, you’ll notice your body calm down along with your mind. This is the result of deepening your breathing, improving your posture and relaxing your muscles.

#5 Become more mindful

With an abundance of apps, classes, podcasts and more, mindfulness has become a billion-dollar business. But, you don’t have to spend lots of money to reach your place of peace. You also don’t have to meditate for hours on end or do something so deeply profound you struggle to keep up.

Mindfulness is simply paying close attention to your words and actions. Through daily yoga practice, you will become more present, alive and aware.
